Randonnée des Cols Corses
![]()
Corsica is famed for one of the toughest long distance walks in Europe - the GR20, which although just 180km in length takes most people 15 days to complete due to the high mountain terrain. An alternative way to spend 15 days in Corsica is to ride the the 'Randonnée des Cols'. It's almost impossible to believe that such a small island can offer so many cols and over 26km of ascent.
I only know of one person who has completed the Randonnée and you can read about his experience here on my blog page. There's little information about it available but what I can tell you is that it's organised by the Cyclos Randonneurs Thononais and their route carte is shown here. Their website (in French) details the rules, how to apply for a licence and the control locations to officially record your journey. I believe that once you evidence route completion you will receive the rather splendid medal shown above which I suspect very few people have in their collection. An alternative is to look at a shorter Randonnée - the Audax Club Parisien route. This is around 950km in length with approximately 15,000m of ascent and takes around 6-8 days to complete. A licence and medal are available from the club. If you'd prefer to be part of a group then contact Pyrenees Multisport who run a fully guided tour each year. |
